Lara Al Boustani, Beirut, 2020

Lara Al Boustani, a talented young author, reached out to me in 2020 with an exciting opportunity: to design the cover for her debut book, "Noktat Sefer Wa Laken." This captivating literary work delves into the profound experiences of womanhood, exploring the transformative journey of growth and change that women undergo throughout their lives.

Inspired by the book's themes, I set out to create a cover that would visually capture the essence of these experiences. After careful consideration, I decided to employ the timeless symbolism of butterfly wings to convey the different stages of a woman's life. From the delicate beginnings as a fetus to the awe-inspiring power of a woman embracing her pregnancy, the wings gracefully depict the continuous cycle of life and its inherent beauty.

The butterfly, known for its remarkable metamorphosis, serves as a powerful symbol for the multifaceted nature of womanhood. Its wings, adorned with vibrant colors and intricate patterns, mirror the complexity and richness of the experiences portrayed within the pages of Jane Dow's book.

By incorporating this profound symbol into the cover design, I aimed to evoke a sense of wonder and fascination, drawing readers into the captivating world of "Noktat Sefer Wa Laken." Through this carefully crafted visual representation, I hoped to spark intrigue and invite readers to embark on a transformative literary journey alongside the remarkable women depicted within the pages of Lara’s remarkable work.
